Hyderabad, May 11: A major burglary was reported in the Goshamahal area after unidentified thieves allegedly broke into a house and stole gold, silver and cash worth several lakhs on Sunday.
According to police, the incident occurred near Jain School while the family members were away attending a wedding function. The house had reportedly remained locked since Sunday morning.
The burglary came to light when the homeowners returned in the evening and found the main door lock broken. After entering the house, the family noticed that valuables were missing from the premises.
Police said the burglars allegedly escaped with nearly 30 tolas of gold ornaments, 30 tolas of silver articles and cash amounting to Rs 5 lakh.
Police examine CCTV footage in Goshamahal burglary case
Following a complaint from the victims, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the burglary.
A clues team visited the spot and collected forensic evidence from the house. Meanwhile, investigators are examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the suspects and determine how they entered the locality.
Police suspect that the accused may have closely monitored the family’s movements before executing the theft. Further investigation is underway.
