Tirupati, June 22: Two people died and more than 30 others were injured after a lorry collided with a passenger bus near Udumvaripalli in Pullampet mandal of Tirupati district early on Monday.
Police said the accident occurred on the Kadapa Chennai highway and left several passengers with serious injuries.
A two year old boy died on the spot in the crash. Local sources said a student, identified as Yaswita from Srikalahasti, also lost her life in the accident. Doctors said the condition of several injured passengers remains critical.
Police rushed to the accident site soon after receiving information and began rescue operations. With help from local residents, they shifted the injured to Rajampet Government Hospital for treatment.

Officials said the collision briefly disrupted traffic on the Kadapa Chennai highway. However, police later cleared the road and restored vehicle movement.
Police have started an investigation to find out what caused the crash. Meanwhile, the accident has cast a pall of gloom in the area as families wait for updates on those who remain in critical condition.
