Tourist Guide Beaten To Death For Rs 600 In Hyderabad

A tourist guide from Nagarkurnool district died in Hyderabad after being assaulted by hotel staff over a payment dispute involving Rs. 600. The incident occurred within the limits of Saroornagar police station when a quarrel turned violent at a hotel in Karmanghat.

According to Inspector Saidi Reddy, the deceased was identified as Vislavat Shankar Nayak, a resident of Veldanda village in Nagarkurnool district. Nayak worked as a tourist guide and regularly brought groups of visitors to Hyderabad for sightseeing. On October 21, he had booked 22 air-conditioned rooms for tourists from Gujarat at the N Seven Hotel in Karmanghat.

The conflict began the next morning while vacating the rooms. Shankar Nayak reportedly paid Rs. 600 less than the billed amount, which led to a heated argument with the hotel staff. The dispute soon scalated into a physical fight.

The staff members, identified as Noor, Kamaluddin, Islam Jahidul, and Rahim, attacked him in anger. Inspector Saidi Reddy said that Noor struck Shankar on the head with a chair during the altercation, leaving him seriously injured.

After the assault, Shankar was treated at a nearby hospital and later returned home. However, his condition worsened on Monday when he fell unconscious.

His family rushed him to Osmania Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon while undergoing treatment. Following a complaint filed by his son, Vamsi Krishna, police registered a case of assault leading to death.

Initial investigations revealed that the hotel staff involved in the attack were residents of Odisha. Police officials have since detained the accused and begun interrogation. The case has drawn attention to the safety and vulnerability of workers in the tourism sector, as the investigation continues under the supervision of Saroornagar police.
