Information and its dissemination in society have become crucial, especially in a crisis like COVID-19. Hence, it is important to examine and highlight various manifestations and forms of information which will benefit society, especially in a situation like COVID-19. Therefore, the main aim of the conference is to adopt the IFAP inter-disciplinary and cross-sectoral framework, and, thereby, aims to promote inclusive dialogue around IFAP’s six priority areas (Information for Development, Information Literacy, Information Preservation, Information Ethics, Information Accessibility, and Multilingualism) and questions relating to access to information in crises situations. New research findings, key policy issues and interventions will address gaps and promote the sharing of best practices. The policy dialogue should yield recommendations that will feed into IDUAI 2020. The chairperson of the conference is Prof. J. Prabhakar Rao, Director, India Centre for Excellence of Information Ethics (ICEIE), University of Hyderabad.
This online conference is significant for India as it enables us to understand the means of dissemination of information and to gain experience in this regard of the other countries. This prestigious conference is being organized for the first time on IFAP priority areas. 28 eminent scholars from all over the world will be making paper presentations in this conference. The highlight of the conference is the adaptation of Hyderabad Declaration in which several recommendations will be made with regard to the theme of the conference.
