IJU Pays Tributes To M Chalapati Rao

Hyderabad, Aug.17 (Maxim News): Journalist Unions leaders and senior journalists paid floral tributes to the doyen of journalism and founding father of journalists professional and trade union movement in the country, M Chalapati Rao at his statue in Jubilee Hills Journalists colony in Hyderabad on Monday on the 63 Founding Day of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ).

The pioneer and largest union of working journalists, Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) was inaugurated by M Chalapati Rao, then President of Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) on August 17, 1957 at Jubilee Hall by amalgamating All Hyderabad Journalists Union and Andhra Working Journalists Union.

Amar Devulapalli, former President of Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and National Media Adviser to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, IJU senior leader K Amarnath, a senior leader of APUWJ D Achuta Rao, President D Venkatachari, Secretary M S Hashmi of the Journalists Housing Society, Hyderabad and R Shailesh Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of the T-SAT were among those who paid floral tributes to Chalapati Rao.
