Uttam Accuses Of TRS Of During Voters With Cash, Liquor

· Uttam promises to develop Nagarjunasagar as international tourist destination

Hyderabad, Jan 7 (Maxim News): TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy accused ruling TRS party of starting culture of distributing money among voters to win elections. He feared that TRS would adopt the same tactics of luring voters with cash and liquor in forthcoming municipal elections and asked Congress party workers to be cautious and fight against the practice.

Addressing a meeting, along with ex-CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and others leaders, in Halia in Nagarjunasagar constituency in Nalgonda district on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS party did not win a single election after 2014 on the basis of its performance. He said that the TRS initially cheated the voters with fake and tall promises and later, it used money power to win elections. He said that the TRS could not win a single seat if elections are held in a free and fair manner.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not fulfil a single promise he made with the voters in both 2014 and 2018 elections. He said that the TRS won the second term in December 2018 and so far it neither fulfilled the promise of giving Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3016 per month to jobless youth nor it waived off crop loans up to Rs. 1 lakh of any farmer. He said the promised double bed room houses for weaker sections remained a distant dream. He said KCR has forgotten the promises of providing 12% reservation to STs and Muslims and three acres of land for Dalit families which he made in 2014 elections.

He also demanded that Chief Minister convene a special Assembly session to pass a resolution rejecting Citizenship Amendment Act enacted by the BJP Government at Centre. He said that the CAA was against the spirit of the Constitution.

The TPCC Chief alleged that KCR was using the ill-gotten money which he got as commission from irrigation projects to lure voters and win elections. Except for distribution of money and liquor and misuse of official machinery, TRS has no other means to win the forthcoming municipal elections. He also ridiculed the Chief Minister’s claims on survey predicting TRS victory in municipal polls and said KCR was misleading the people in the name of a bogus survey.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party has approached the High Court against the State Election Commission as it has issued the election notification before the reservation of wards was announced, which was a violation of the Telangana Municipalities Act. He asked that the political parties need time to finalise nearly 4,000 candidates and the contestants need to arrange caste and other certificates to file nomination. He said that the Congress party tried to convince the State Government and Election Commission to give a gap of at least one week between announcement of reservation and release of notification. Having failed to get a positive response, the Congress party approached the High Court, he said.

However, he said TRS leaders were levelling false allegations that Congress was afraid of facing elections. He said he had won six elections in a row while ex-CLP leader K. Jana Reddy had won eight times as MLA. He said that the Congress party brought independence for the country and also created Telangana State. Therefore, the Congress party has a glorious past and a bright future and it fears nothing. He claimed that the Congress party was quite strong at all levels and it would win a majority of seats in all municipalities and corporations. He appealed to the party members to work hard to win the municipal elections.

Stating that Nagarjunasagar has a huge potential to emerge as international tourist destination, Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that as Nalgonda MP he would explore all means to achieve this target. He also assured to utilise MP funds for the development of civic amenities in Nalgonda district. (Maxim News)
