Uttam Ridicules KCR’s Claim On Winning Municipal Elections

Suryapet/Hyderabad, Jan 5 (Maxim News): TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy ridiculed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s claim of TRS party’s victory in all 120 municipalities and 10 corporations which are going for polls.

Addressing party workers and leaders at a meeting in Suryapet on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused KCR of misleading the people in the name of a survey report. He said TRS leaders got habituated of making fake promises and tall claims. He said that the TRS Government has failed to fulfill a single promise it has made with the people of Telangana during December 2018 elections. Even after one year, he said, jobless youth did not get promised Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,106 per month. He said crop loans up to Rs. 1 lakh were not waived and there are no signs of promised double bed room houses for poor.

Similarly, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS leaders have totally forgotten the promises of providing 12% reservation for Muslims and STs and three acres of land for Dalits. He said the forthcoming municipal election was the best opportunity to teach TRS a fitting lesson for unkept promises and poor performance. He said it was ridiculous on the part of KCR to assume that people would vote for TRS for lack of performance and zero achievements.

The TPCC Chief made it clear that the Congress party was not trying to stop or delay the municipal elections, but it wants the entire poll process to be fair and transparent. He said that the Congress party had approached the High Court against the State Election Commission’s schedule which provides of filing of nomination papers one week after declaration of reservation in wards and divisions. He alleged that the TRS was trying to present this issue in a wrong way only to mislead the people by saying that Congress party was afraid of facing municipal polls.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said neither the Congress party nor him individually ever feared facing elections. He said he had contested maximum number of elections and won five times as MLA. He said he also got elected to the Lok Sabha from Nalgonda Lok Sabha segment in 2019 elections.

He said that the reservations for Chairmen and Mayors for municipalities and corporations have been announced that the reservation of wards might be announced on Monday. The notification will be issued January 8. He said candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and minorities would contest from nearly 4,000 reserved wards and they need time to procure Caste and other certificates. However, he alleged that the State Election Commission, it appears, was not willing to give the required time to these candidates. He said that the poll schedule clearly indicates towards a conspiracy to prevent opposition parties from contesting the elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy exhorted the party workers to ensure victory of Congress party from all 48 wards in Suryapet municipality. He promised to sanction development works of hundreds of crores from his MP funds for Suryapet municipality. He said he would make representation with the Central Government to include Suryapet town in the Smart City Project. He said representation has been made with Prime Minister Narender Modi for sanction of railway line from Hyderabad-Vijayawada via Chotuppal, Nakrekal, Suryapet and Kodad. He said representation was also made with President of India Ramnath Kovind, during his visit to Hyderabad, for sanction of Bullet Train from Hyderabad to Vijayawada via Suryapet.

The TPCC Chief said no compensation was paid to the owners of several residential and commercial properties which were demolished for expansion of Suryapet main road. He strongly condemned Minsiter Jagadish Reddy for delay in payment of compensation to victims and described it as as inhuman act. He said he would meet Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar in this regard on 7th or 8th January seeking immediate release of compensation amount.

He pointed out that the previous Congress Government had constructed 5,000 houses for weaker sections in Surpayet alone. He said TRS Government did not construct even 200 houses in the last six years.

Former MLA R. Damoder Reddy, Cheveti Venkanna, Ramesh Reddy, Venedhar Reddy and other senior leaders were also present. (Maxim News)
