Hyderabad, Sept. 30 (Maxim News): Four men from Telangana who travelled to Russia for jobs are allegedly stranded at a Russian military camp, with their families seeking government help to bring them back to India.
The men have been identified as Bhukya Ravinder, Bhukya Ashok and Megavath Prakash from the erstwhile Nizamabad district, and Mohammed Afzal Khan from Kamareddy.
According to their families, they paid around ₹3 lakh each to agents for employment arrangements.
The families said the men were promised civilian jobs in Russia.
However, they allegedly ended up at a military facility, where they were given weapons and subjected to military training.
The families fear they could be sent towards the Russia Ukraine war zone.
In a video message, Afzal Khan said the men were being confined in a forest and were facing severe difficulties. He alleged that some people were tied up when they attempted to leave.
“We are facing a lot of trouble here,” Khan said in the video, according to reports.
He also claimed that the work initially offered to them was later changed.
Khan, 44, allegedly told his family that their passports were changed and that they were taken towards the Ukraine border after being recruited for military service.
His family has sought urgent intervention to secure his release.
Families Seek Centre, Telangana Government Intervention
The families have approached the Telangana government through CM Pravasi Prajavani and sought assistance from the state NRI wing.
They want the state authorities to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
The families have also sought help in establishing the men’s exact location and ensuring their safety. According to reports, officials have directed the NRI wing to coordinate with the MEA and the Indian Embassy over their repatriation.
Afzal Khan’s wife said he sends her messages only once every eight to 10 days. His parents have also appealed to the Centre and Telangana government for his safe return.
The families said they are particularly worried about the possibility of the men being moved closer to the frontline. Reports quoting the families said one of the men remained at a military camp while others may have been moved closer to the conflict zone.
The exact location and current status of all four men have not been independently established. Their allegations of forced recruitment and military deployment are based on family accounts, video messages and related reports. Authorities are being urged to verify the circumstances and facilitate their safe return to India. (Maxim News)
