Vidya Yagna began under KCR’s leadership: Sabitha

Hyderabad, March 11 (Maxim News): Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy today said they had launched a yagna for the development of the education sector in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. She called upon the people to take part in the yagna and repay the debt of their schools. Stating that there are 22 lakh students in 26,000 government schools in the State, she said they have decided to develop these schools under Mana Vooru-Mana Badi program.

Replying to questions raised by the members in the Assembly, Sabita said a total of three lakh students had joined the government schools in the ongoing academic year, thanks to the various programs launched by the State government for development of the schools. She also said the schemes like midday meal, free books distribution and free uniform facilities were some of the schemes that have led to the increase in the number of the students in the government schools. She also said the confidence of the parents on the government schools was also increasing gradually.

The minister said they were providing basic amenities in all the government schools as per the suggestions of the Chief Minister. She also said they were also going to introduce English medium education in all the government schools under the Mana vooru-Mana badi scheme. She said they were implementing the scheme by taking entire mandal as a unit. Sabita said they would develop the schools by spending Rs 3,497 crore to develop 9,123 schools in the first phase and they would cover 60 percent of the schools in the first phase of the scheme.

She said their main focus would be on the construction of toilets in all the schools and added that they would provide water facility in all the toilets and they would be constructed as per the number of the students in the schools. She also said they would solve electricity problems in all the schools and all classrooms would have proper lighting. They would also equip the classrooms with good furniture and library facility. She said they would not only paint the school buildings, but also replace all the damaged doors and windows. (Maxim News)
