Villagers Attack Forest Officials in Nalgonda, Six Injured
Hyderabad, Nov 12 (Maxim News): : Tension prevailed in Nalgonda district on Wednesday evening after villagers attacked forest officials near Guvvalagutta in Chandampet mandal.
The officials had visited the area following reports that locals were ploughing land belonging to the Forest Department.
According to police, the officials asked the villagers to stop cultivation and show valid land documents. The villagers claimed ownership and insisted on continuing the ploughing, leading to a heated argument.
Enraged villagers reportedly attacked the forest team with stones and sticks. Six officials, including field staff, suffered serious injuries in the assault. They were immediately shifted to Devarakonda Government Hospital for treatment.
Additional police forces rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials said the injured are out of danger.
The forest department stated that several acres of reserve land in Guvvalagutta are under encroachment. The department has been conducting regular drives to prevent illegal cultivation. Police have tightened security in the area to avoid further clashes.(Maxim News)
