Waqf Board | Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News): : The Telangana Minorities Welfare Department has officially authorized Dr. Mohammed Safiullah, Deputy Secretary (Non-Cadre) of TG GENCO and currently serving as Director of the Telangana Urdu Academy, to sign cheques for key financial disbursements of the Telangana State Waqf Board.

This authorization covers the payment of honorarium to Imams and Mouzans for the months of June, July, and August 2025, as well as salaries of Waqf Board employees for August 2025 only.

The decision, issued via Memo No. 2973/Estt-II/2024 dated 26.09.2025, comes following a formal request from the Chairman of the Telangana Waqf Board.

Secretary to Government B. Shafiullah confirmed the authorization, highlighting the critical role of Dr. Safiullah in ensuring timely disbursement of salaries and honorarium payments.

The Chairman of the Waqf Board, Syed Azmathullah Hussaini, is expected to request Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar to also permit Dr. Safiullah to function as an Authorized Officer.

Source said that in addition, he may gradually take charge of the Telangana Minorities Study Circle, Career Counselling Centre, and the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation soon.

Dr. Safiullah’s prior administrative experience positions him well for this responsibility. On deputation from TSGENCO, he has been serving as Director of the Telangana Urdu Academy. His familiarity with both government procedures and minority welfare initiatives ensures that the Waqf Board’s financial obligations are met efficiently.

Sources indicate that this authorization is part of a broader effort by the Telangana Minorities Welfare Department to streamline Waqf Board operations, ensuring transparency and timely payment of salaries and honorarium to religious functionaries.

By designating an experienced officer like Dr. Safiullah, the department aims to maintain accountability while upholding the rights and welfare of employees and community leaders associated with the Board.

This development also underscores the continuing collaboration between the Telangana Minorities Welfare Department and the Waqf Board to safeguard minority welfare programs, maintain proper governance, and facilitate financial management across the state.
