WATCH: Delhi Liquor Scam: Iftekhar Shareef Denies Involvement

Hyderabad, Nov 24 (Maxim News): United State of America (USA) based Non Resident Indian Iftekhar Shareef has refuted all the allegations that he is involved in the Delhi Liquor Scam and added that few sections of the media have brought his name to the fore which is false news.

Speaking to press and media persons, here today, he clarified that he is businessman and social activist and always worked for improving the trade relations between India and USA.

He had contacts with the Prime Ministers of India right from Dr. Man Mohan Singh and the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from contacts with the politicians of different states including the Chief Minister of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and many dignitaries at the National and International level which includes the President of USA including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and present President Joe Biden.

He added that being a Muslim, touching the liquor is “haram” and added that being the strong religious believer he will not touch liquor hence cannot expect that he will do the liquor business.

He alleged that the news channel has tarnished his image which has broadcast such news without properly investigating information. Instead, they maliciously picked the pictures from my Facebook account with MLC K. Kavitha and Minister K. Tarak Rama Rao, both daughter and son of KCR and attached to some liquor scam and aired on television, which is totaly unacceptable and said that his legal team has already served notice of Civil defamation for Rs. 100 and 50 crores which would also follow the criminal case.

He said on one side where Center and state governments encourages citizens to come to India and establish business and get involved in social service for the benefit of the people of the state and the country at large, on the other hand false news aired by one channel not only ruined my hard earned respect, but also discourages other people of Indian origin like me to do any good social work in India or establish businesses to create employment. This news will make other people of Indian origin to give a second thought before engaging themselves in any social activity in their motherland. Ultimately it will impact the development of the state and the country at large, he said. (Maxim News)
