WATCH | Heavy Rainfall, Flooding Returns To Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A sudden downpour caused severe inundation in several parts of Hyderabad on Saturday night, leading to widespread flooding and disrupting traffic at major junctions.

Nampally (Begum Bazar Doodh Khana UHC) recorded the highest rainfall in the city, measuring 11.75 centimetres by 10 pm, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society. Charminar (Sardar Mahal ZC office) recorded the second highest amount of rainfall at 10.63 centimetres.

Heavy downpours were reported in areas including Khairatabad, Asifnagar, Hayatnagar, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Bahadurpura, Secunderabad, Bandlaguda, Saidabad, Uppal, and Alwal across the city.

The heavy two-hour rainfall resulted in significant traffic jams across almost all regions. Major roads in Punjagutta, Ameerpet, LB Nagar, Kukatpally, S R Nagar, Miyapur, Begumpet, Lakdikapul, Khairatabad, Hi Tech City, Madhapur, and Mehdipatnam were inundated with knee-deep rainwater. Overflowing manholes further aggravated the commuters’ woes.

The sudden downpour also dampened the festive mood of Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi festival) celebrations held on Saturday night, causing inconvenience to participants.
