Hyderabad, June 10: A Hyderabad court has sentenced a woman to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in the Bahadurpura murder case after finding her guilty in the death of her husband.
The conviction follows a detailed investigation by Bahadurpura Police, which uncovered the crime and foiled an attempt to secretly bury the victim’s body.
The case relates to the murder of Gaddam Narsimulu alias Narsimha at Kondareddyguda in Kishanbagh under Bahadurpura Police Station limits on April 8, 2024.
According to police, Narsimulu frequently subjected his wife, nephew, and a juvenile relative to physical and mental harassment. Investigators said the abuse had continued for a long period and created tension within the family.
Police stated that during the early hours of April 8, Narsimulu returned home in an intoxicated condition. Soon after, his wife Gaddam Pooja, along with her nephew and a juvenile relative, allegedly attacked him with an iron pan. The repeated blows caused severe head injuries and led to his death on the spot.
After the incident, the accused allegedly tried to conceal the crime. They transported the body towards a graveyard at Puranapul and planned to conduct a burial without informing authorities.
However, a vigilant neighbour alerted police through Dial 100.
Acting quickly, Bahadurpura Police intercepted the funeral procession before the burial could take place.
Officers shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem examination. Medical experts found multiple serious injuries on the victim’s head and face. Consequently, the postmortem report confirmed that the death was homicidal.
Furthermore, investigators collected witness statements, forensic evidence, and medical reports. Police registered Crime No. 91/2024 and filed a chargesheet under Sections 302 and 201 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The case came up before the IV Additional Sessions Court, Hyderabad, in Sessions Case No. 893/2024. During the trial, the prosecution presented medical evidence, witness testimony, and investigation findings.
Additional Public Prosecutor Smt. Srivani argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
After examining the evidence, the court of J. Vikram, IV Additional Sessions Judge, Hyderabad, delivered its verdict on June 10, 2026. The court found Gaddam Pooja guilty under Section 304 Part I IPC and Section 201 IPC.
The court sentenced her to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 304 Part I IPC. In addition, the court awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment and another fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 201 IPC for causing the disappearance of evidence. Both sentences will run concurrently.
Police officials said the case highlighted the importance of prompt public reporting and scientific investigation. They noted that a neighbour’s timely Dial 100 alert played a crucial role in preventing the secret burial and helping investigators uncover the truth.
Officials added that the conviction reflects the Hyderabad City Police’s commitment to strong investigation and effective prosecution.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendranagar Zone, S. Srinivas, IPS, and Bahadurpura Inspector Md. Shakeer Ali appreciated the efforts of the investigating officer, prosecution team, and court staff for securing the conviction. They said the verdict sends a strong message that attempts to conceal serious crimes will not escape the law.
