World Sparrow Day Celebrated At Zoo

Hyderabad, March 20 (Maxim News): World Sparrow Day is celebrated today at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad with an objective of increasing awareness about protecting the sparrows and other small birds. About 20 Nos. wooden nest boxes were installed in the Zoo premises by the Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad and entire staff (Executive staff& Field staff) of Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. V.V.L. Subhadra Devi, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad said that World Sparrow Day is an International initiative observed on 20th March in collaboration with organization across the World to celebrate Sparrow, which is one of the widest spread passerine Bird in the World.

It aims to provide a platform for Conservation of dwindling populations of sparrows. She also appealed to the entire staff and the Citizens, charities, conservationists, Government, Corporation and individuals to take part in Sparrow Conservation by keeping grains and water in their balconies, window sills, terraces and or gardens.

World Sparrow Day 2021: Theme

The theme for the World Sparrow Day is ‘I Love Sparrows’ and is inspired with the hope that more people will celebrate the relationship between people and sparrows by making them remember the bond they share as people have lived in harmony with these little birds for 10,000 years.

Through this year’s theme, the main aim is to highlight how citizens from different walks of life are making amazing differences and expressing their love for sparrows by telling the world how they are helping conserve the little creature.

People are advised to make nests, put water for sparrows during the summer season or can also put bird feeders in gardens or any open area to protect the adorable bird.

being celebrated every year around the world. The Nature Forever Society was founded by an Indian conservationist named Mohammed Dilawar whohas made lots of efforts for several years to raise awareness among the people regarding the importance of conservation of the house sparrow. (Maxim News)
