Hyderabad, August 28: A 17 year old girl allegedly died by suicide after her father reprimanded her over excessive mobile phone use. Police said the incident occurred near Huppuguda railway station in Hyderabad.
The girl reportedly lived in Kachiguda and frequently spent long hours using her mobile phone. According to police, her father had warned her several times about her phone usage.
The girl allegedly left her home on Tuesday night following another reprimand. Her family later became concerned when she did not return home.
Her body was found near Huppuguda railway station at around 4 am on Wednesday. A home guard first alerted the railway police about the incident.
The railway police then reached the spot and identified the girl. They subsequently informed her family about the incident.
Police registered a case and began an investigation. Officials are examining the circumstances that preceded the girl’s death.
At this stage, police have attributed the incident to the reported dispute over mobile phone use. However, the investigation will establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
The incident highlights the need for families to respond carefully when young people face conflicts or emotional distress. Experts generally advise parents to maintain open communication with teenagers and seek timely support when they notice signs of distress.
