WEATHER ALERT: Monsoon May Be Delayed By Four Days In Kerala

Hyderabad, May 16 (Maxim News): The Indian meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed that the monsoon may be delayed by four days in Kerala this year. Monsoon usually starts from June 1 for southern states. Monsoon will start from June 4 this year.

During the last 18 years ( 2005-22), the operational predictions of monsoon onset date in Kerala proved correct all the time except in 2015. Monsoons hit southern states on June 1 in 2020, June 3 in 2021 and may 29 in 2022. The IMD has not yet announced when the monsoon will begin in other parts of the country.

This year, as per the data given by IMD, places like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand have recorded 18 per cent excess rainfall so far. During this period the Peninsular region received 88 per cent excess rainfall (102 mm above normal of 54.2 mm). East and North East India received 29 percent rainfall from March 1 to May 3.
