All Set For Counting Of Votes In Telangana At 49 Centers From 8 AM Tomorrow

Hyderabad, Dec 2:(Maxim News): Everything is ready for the counting of votes in the Telangana Assembly elections, which were held on November 30. The counting will begin at 49 centers on December  3 at 8.00 am.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Vikas Raj, said that there will be tight security at all counting centers to ensure law and order. Postal ballots will be counted first, followed by votes from electronic voting machines (EVMs).

The CEO said that EVMs have been sealed and placed under CCTV surveillance and central force security since the end of polling. Counting centers will have two layers of security, managed by central forces and the state armed reserve.

On the day of the counting, there will be an additional layer of security, with the state police controlling traffic around the centers. A total of 40 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed to guard the strong rooms and ensure security during the counting process.

To enhance transparency, CCTV footage from strong rooms will be shared with candidates. Counting centers will have a total of 1,766 counting tables, including 131 tables for returning officers and postal ballots.

The CEO said that it may take some time to complete the counting process in some constituencies because of the high number of postal ballots, the high voter turnout, and the large number of candidates.

The Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 71.34%, slightly lower than the 2018 elections. (Maxim News)
