Congress leaders hail Shabbir Ali’s appointment as Advisor to TS Govt

Hyderabad, January 21: Congress party’s leaders have warmly welcomed the appointment of former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir as Advisor to the Government of Telangana for SC, ST, OBC, and Minorities Welfare.

On Sunday, a delegation led by Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah, TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, Charminar Incharge Mujeebullah Shareef, Javeed Ahmed, Md Shafi, Aslam Shareef and others visited Shabbir Ali’s residence in Jubilee Hills to congratulate him on his new role.

“Shabbir Ali is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in both politics and administration,” Sameer Waliullah stated in a media release after the meeting. “Having served as Minister for two terms and as Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council, his knowledge and expertise make him highly qualified to handle the critical issues of welfare for SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities.”

Sameer Waliullah further highlighted the specific promises made by the Congress party to Dalits, Girijans, BCs, and minorities through separate declarations, subsequently incorporated into their Assembly election manifesto. He expressed confidence that Shabbir Ali would play a crucial role in fulfilling these promises.

“Shabbir Ali deserves credit for securing 4% Muslim reservation when he served as Minister in Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajashekhara Reddy’s cabinet in 2004,” Sameer Waliullah added. “The minority community holds great expectations from him, and he is well-positioned to champion their cause, including securing a dedicated Minorities Sub-Plan and a significantly increased Rs. 4,000 crore welfare budget.”

The Hyderabad DCC also viewed Shabbir Ali’s appointment as a strategic move to counter the opposition BRS party’s criticism of the Congress for not inducting a Muslim minister into the state cabinet. Sameer Waliullah acknowledged that unfortunately, no Muslim Congress leader was elected as MLA in the recent elections. Therefore, he clarified, the party is committed to ensuring inclusivity and representation for minorities by placing them in prominent positions within the government. (Maxim News)
