Petition Filed Against 24 MLAs Including KTR And Harish Rao

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (Maxim News): In the aftermath of the recent assembly elections in Telangana, a total of thirty election petitions have been filed in the Telangana High Court challenging the victories of MLAs in 24 assembly constituencies. Prominent figures such as BRS working president KT Rama Rao and former minister T Harish Rao are among those facing legal scrutiny.

The primary focus of these petitions revolves around alleged irregularities in the election affidavits of the MLAs and concerns related to Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) issues. It is anticipated that the number of petitions may increase in the coming days as more defeated contestants consider approaching the court to challenge the election outcomes.

Among the petitioners, Congress candidate KK Mahender Reddy and Vidyarthula Rajakiya Party candidate L Srinivas, who both lost in the Sircilla constituency, filed petitions against KT Rama Rao. Mahender Reddy, in his petition, raised concerns about KTR not declaring his son Himanshu as a dependent and presented a sale deed for 32 acres of land in the name of KTR’s son. Reddy argued that despite Himanshu reaching the age of majority two months before the elections, KTR continued to pay his son’s fees at a US university, raising questions about his dependent status.

Srinivas, another petitioner against KTR, emphasized issues related to the non-disclosure of KTR’s son’s assets and called for a recount of VVPATs.

In a separate instance, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate G Chakradhar Goud filed a petition against BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao, who secured re-election from the Siddipet constituency. Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin and real estate businessman V Naveen Yadav challenged BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath’s election from Jubilee Hills, alleging violations in the counting process.
