3053.58 Tonnes of Garbage Removed as Part of Cleanliness and Greening Program

Hyderabad, Aug 8 (Maxim News): As part of an ongoing cleanliness and greening initiative, a total of 3053.58 tonnes of garbage has been removed as of Wednesday. The program has seen extensive participation and significant achievements across various sectors.

Key Achievements:

1. Community Engagement and Cleanup Efforts:

  • 44,468 families participated in the introduction program.
  • 709 clean autos were deployed to shops, commercial areas, and residential welfare associations (RWAs).
  • 73 garbage-vulnerable points (GVPs) were addressed.
  • 346 community halls, graveyards, and 143 educational institutions were cleaned.
  • 135 Weekly Market Committees have been established.

2. Health and Sanitation:

  • Anti-larvae treatments were administered to 188,109 families.
  • Fogging operations were conducted in 1,080 colonies.
  • 19 water bodies underwent logging operations.
  • 731 sterilized stray dogs, and 1,132 were identified for sterilization.
  • 323 dog feeding centers were set up, with 307 individuals identified as feeders for stray dogs.
  • 725 oil balls and gambusia fish were deployed for mosquito control.

3. Engineering Department Initiatives:

  • 51.534 kilometers of canals have been embanked.
  • 488 potholes were filled.
  • 142 stagnation points were cleared.

4. Urban Biodiversity Development (UBD):

  • 124,069 saplings were distributed, and 34,783 saplings were planted.
  • 2972 meters of central median plantation and 45.91 kilometers of avenue plantation were completed.
  • 169 parks and open spaces were maintained.
  • Out of 450 parks, 282 green waste collections were made.

5. Lakes and Ponds Management:

  • 56.2 tonnes of solid waste and 67.7 tonnes of construction waste were removed from lakes.
  • 69 GVPs were identified, and 83 GVPs were cleared.
  • 26 Pond Protection Committees were formed.
  • 12 ponds had horseshoe removals conducted.

6. UCD Revenue and Awareness:

  • Digital numbering awareness reached 1,113 people.
  • 583 slum-level federations were engaged in meetings.
  • 484 community halls were inspected.
