The Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by its Chairman Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has met at the State Secretariat today and discussed closely the sanction of white ration cards. It is said that the subcommittee has come up with a proposal that the annual income should not exceed two lakhs in urban areas and hold 7.5 acres of land for the sanction of new white ration cards. A deep study is being conducted to ensure that no one below the poverty line loses this opportunity.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has suggested to Civil Supplies Department Secretary D.S. Chauhan to immediately write letters to all the members of the Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, Legislative Council, and Legislature and take suggestions from them in due dates. Apart from that, he said that Dr. NC Saxena is going to consider the recommendations of the Saxena Committee, which is the commissioner, in sanctioning new white ration cards. Supreme Court Special Commissioner Harsha Mander is a member of this committee.

Apart from this, he disclosed that a team of officials has already studied the procedures adopted in other states of the country regarding the sanction of white ration cards to be granted to the lower middle-class people as per the instructions of the state government. But at the same time, it was found that those who migrated to Telangana from inter-states have white cards here and there, and the sub-committee discussed the proposal to give the option of “there…here” to such people. At present, there are 89.96 lakh ration cards in the state. He said ten lakh applications have been received by giving the facility to apply. (Maxim News)
