Stampede At Deviramma Fair: Devotees Slipped From The Hill

Chikmagluru/Hyderabad, Nov 1 (Maxim News): Tragedy struck on Deviramma Hill in Chikmagalur, Karnataka. Devotees flock to the Bindiga Deviramma Jatara, which is located on the Manikyadhara hill at a height of 3 thousand feet.

From the morning of November 1, thousands of devotees queued up the hill. On the night of October 31, a stampede took place as more than the limit of devotees came to the hill in addition to the rain. Due to this, hundreds of devotees fell down the hill. Many were seriously injured. The police reached the spot and started rescue operations with the help of ropes. A woman with serious injuries was taken to the hospital.

Located in the Chandra Drona hill range of Chikmagalur, this temple is open only during Diwali, despite the incessant rainfall, a huge number of people visit the temple. Devotees from all over Karnataka seek the blessings of Goddess Bindiga Deviramma.  (Maxim News)
