Special Commission On BC Reservation In Local Bodies

Hyderabad, Nov 4 (Maxim News): The Telangana government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken a key decision to set up a special commission to avoid legal complications related to BC reservations in local body elections.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy along with Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu, Damodar Raja Narsimha, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Secretary to CM Seshadri, BC Welfare Department Principal Secretary B. Venkatesham and others met at his resident in Jubilee Hills on Sunday night in the wake of the High Court orders. The Chief Minister ordered to take due care for the formation of a special commission. The social, economic, education, employment, and caste survey will begin in the state on the 6th of this month.

In this connection, the Chief Minister is of the opinion that the court’s judgments should be followed in order to avoid legal complications related to BC reservations in the future.

The Chief Minister ordered the officials to immediately set up a special commission based on everyone’s opinions and to issue the relevant orders on Monday, today. The government has reviewed the points raised by the  High Court in the matter of caste census and reservations for local bodies. The Chief Minister alerted the officials that the government has no excuses and should act transparently in the matter of reservation of local bodies. Former MP and national president of BC Welfare Association R.Krishnaiah expressed his happiness over the government’s decision to form a special commission regarding BC reservations.

Public hearings conducted by the Backward Classes Commission have been postponed. The inquiry was postponed in the wake of the government’s decision to appoint a special commission for the BC Socio-Economic Caste Survey. While the government has already ordered the BC Commission as a special commission to conduct a caste survey, the commission has also taken responsibility for the BC caste survey “Meanwhile, the public inquiry has been completed in the former joint districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Warangal. A public inquiry program is to be held in other districts.

The BC Commission is going to meet today in the context of setting up a special commission.  The meeting will finalize the schedule of the next public inquiry to be held on the increase of reservations for BCs in local bodies.  (Maxim News)
