Students Send Bomb Threats To Schools To Postpone Exams: Check Here What Students Said

NEW DELHI: Bomb threat emails to at least three schools in Delhi were sent by their own students, Delhi Police said on Sunday.

After the initial probe by the Delhi Police special cell, a police official told a news agency that the threats were sent by two siblings in the school because they wanted the exams to be postponed.

During counseling, both students revealed that they had gotten the idea from previous incidents of bomb threats being made to schools, the officer said. They were later allowed to go after their parents were given a warning.

According to officials, two more schools located in Rohini and Paschim Vihar were sent threatening emails by their students.

It was found that the emails were sent to both schools by two different students of the same school. Both students had sent this email to stop the exam because they were not prepared for the exam paper,” Delhi Police said.

The recent spate of bomb threats that have been disrupting school hours.

On Tuesday, schools received a mail demanding $100,000 along with a threat that bombs would detonate “within 72 hours“, while on Monday in the same week, approximately 20 schools, including DPS RK Puram, received similar threat emails.

The series of threats began on December 9 when 44 schools received threatening emails, followed by similar incidents on December 13 affecting 30 schools, and on December 14 targeting eight institutions. In the December 14 incident, the sender specifically mentioned the use of “bomb vests“.

Since May this year, more than 50 bomb threat emails have targeted not only schools but hospitals, airports, and airline companies in Delhi.
