TPCC Chief Welcomes High Court Verdict on Local Body Elections, Vows 42% Reservation for BCs

Hyderabad, June 25 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday welcomed the Telangana High Court’s decision directing the state government to conduct local body elections by September 30, 2025. Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to conducting elections with 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs).

“The elections were delayed as we wanted to ensure rightful representation through 42% BC reservations,” Goud explained. “The categorization of SC and BC communities has already been sent to the Centre, awaiting approval.”

He criticised the BJP-led Centre, stating, “Not a single BJP minister is raising their voice to expedite the process. They remain silent while the rights of marginalized communities are held up.”

Goud emphasized that a cabinet decision will soon be taken to move ahead with the polls, ensuring social justice through proper reservations. “Unlike the BRS government, the Congress is committed to inclusive governance,” he stated.

Congress Slams BRS for Spreading Misinformation

Hitting out at BRS and its online campaigns, Goud said, “Despite remarkable administrative progress, BRS continues to mislead the public with falsehoods on social media. We urge people not to fall for these tactics.”

He added that the Congress government has achieved more in 18 months than what BRS could do in a decade. Goud accused the former ruling party of introducing schemes like Dalit Bandhu solely for electoral gains, particularly citing its launch ahead of the Huzurabad bypoll.

Congress stands for real development and social justice. Our focus remains on empowering every segment of society—not just vote-bank politics,” he concluded.
