Hyderabad Task Force Nabs Cab Driver with 7.5 Kg Ganja Worth ₹1.9 Lakh in Kanchanbagh
Hyderabad, July 2 (Maxim News): In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Hyderabad Task Force (South-West Zone) in coordination with the Kanchanbagh police arrested a cab driver for allegedly possessing and selling 7.5 kilograms of ganja (marijuana). The seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹1.9 lakh in the illegal market.
The accused, identified as Mohd Amer, is a resident of Balapur and works as a car driver. According to police sources, Amer got involved in drug trafficking to earn additional income. He sourced the marijuana from a known peddler, Mohd Ismail, who operates out of Hafeez Baba Nagar.
Amer allegedly sold the narcotic substance to known consumers in and around the Kanchanbagh area at a higher price. Acting on credible information, the Task Force team launched a joint operation with local police, leading to the seizure and arrest.
The accused has been handed over to Kanchanbagh Police Station for further investigation. Authorities have also intensified efforts to apprehend Mohd Ismail, the main supplier.
Police Crackdown on Drug Network
A senior official from the Task Force stated that such operations will continue as part of their ongoing efforts to curb the spread of drugs in the city, especially in vulnerable localities. The department has appealed to citizens to report suspicious activities and help build a drug-free Hyderabad.
