Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Telangana: IMD Forecasts Downpour in Several Districts Over Next Two Days
Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Telangana, forecasting intense rainfall activity over the next two days—Thursday and Friday. The alert urges residents and authorities to remain cautious as localized heavy downpours are expected in multiple districts.
Rainfall Forecast:
- On Thursday (July 17), Suryapet, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
- On Friday (July 18), a yellow alert has been issued for Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Mahabubabad, with warnings of heavy to very heavy rain.
- Light to moderate showers are expected in other parts of the state, the Met department added.
The IMD has advised people in the affected areas to:
- Stay indoors during heavy rainfall periods.
- Avoid low-lying and waterlogged areas.
- Keep emergency kits and essential supplies ready.
- Follow updates from local authorities and disaster response teams.
Farmers and daily commuters are especially urged to take precautionary measures, as the downpour may disrupt travel, agriculture activities, and power supply in some areas.

The weather office has attributed the rainfall to active monsoon conditions over the region, coupled with moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.
As Telangana continues to receive seasonal rainfall, residents are advised to monitor official weather bulletins and avoid spreading unverified information. (Maxim News)
