BRS To Move Supreme Court Over Disqualification Of Defected MLCs
Hyderabad, Aug 9 (Maxim News): The BRS is escalating its fight against defections, this time targeting its members of the legislative Council who shifted allegiance to the ruling Congress without formally resigning.
Buoyed by the Supreme court’s recent directive to the Assembly Speaker to decide on the disqualification of 10 defected MLAs within three months. BRS working president K.Tarak Rama Rao reached Delhi on Saturday with the party’s legal cell members. He will file a petition in the apex court on Monday, seeking the disqualification of MLCs who won on the BRS ticket but switched loyalties.
The move follows internal discussions led by BRS chief K.Chandrashekhar Rao, following the Supreme Court directions. Party leaders are particularly irked by MLC’s Dande Vithal, T.Bhanu Prasad Rao, K.Damodar Reddy and Patnam mahender Reddy attending Congress party programmes and government events while staying away from BRS activities.
Officially, the BRS has a total 21 MLCs including one graduate constituency, 12 local bodies constituecies, seven MLA quota and Two Governor-nominated members in the legislative Council. (Maxim News)
