Heavy Rains in Hyderabad | Hyderabad, Sept. 15: Heavy rains battered the city on Sunday evening, leaving several areas waterlogged and claiming at least three lives.
Officials confirmed that nearly 12 cm of rainfall was recorded within an hour, triggering flash floods in canals and drains across multiple localities.

Tragedy struck in Habibnagar, where two people drowned in the Afzal Sagar canal. An uncle was swept away by the gushing water, and his son-in-law drowned while attempting to rescue him. Police teams have launched an intensive search operation to trace their bodies.
In a separate incident, a youth identified as Sunny (26) from Vinoba Colony, Musheerabad division, was washed away when a wall adjacent to a local drain collapsed around 9.30 p.m. Witnesses said Sunny was speaking to his friends when he fell into the drain.
Despite desperate efforts by his companions, who threw a rope in an attempt to save him, he was carried away by the strong current. GHMC, Hydra and police personnel joined local residents in the search, using sticks and ropes along the Nala stream to locate him.
Widespread Flooding and Traffic Chaos in Hyderabad
The downpour brought life to a standstill in several parts of the city, with main roads turning into ponds. Areas including Tolichowki, Sheikhpet, Rayadurgam, Rajendranagar, Jubilee Hills, Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Musheerabad, Ramnagar, Tarnaka, LB Nagar, Kacheguda, Kushaiguda, Kapra and Keesara reported severe waterlogging.
Motorists faced immense difficulties navigating submerged roads.
GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi inspected the flood-affected stretches in Banjara Hills along with civic officials. On the Miyapur-Madinaguda route, floodwaters reached the national highway, further worsening the traffic situation.
In Secunderabad, sudden torrential rains led to water entering houses in Kawadiguda Padmasali Colony.
HYDRAA and GHMC teams were pressed into action, particularly at the Command Control Center on Banjara Hills Road No. 12, where water stagnation disrupted movement.
Personnel are working to clear floodwaters and restore normalcy.
