UN Security Council Resolution Called For Immediate Ceasefire In Gaza: America Veteos

UN/internet/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News) The United States has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution was defeated by 14 of the 15-member UN Security Council, while the US vetoed it.

The resolution was adopted by the UN Security Council, demanding an immediate end to the carnage in Gaza and an immediate end to the war.

However, the US strongly opposed it. US Counselor Morgan Ortagus told the Security Council that the US rejects this unacceptable resolution. She said the resolution failed to condemn the atrocities of Hamas, which is designated a terrorist organization by the US and the EU.

This is the sixth time that the US has vetoed UN resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza from 2023. It is known that the US and Israel are jointly participating in this war that is causing carnage in Gaza.

More than 64 thousand Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks so far. The war began with a Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023. 1200 Israeli civilians were killed in this attack.

Meanwhile, India supported the resolution tabled at the United Nations on 13th of this month for the establishment of Palestine.

India voted in favor of the resolution adopting the New York Declaration on a peaceful solution between Israel and Palestine and the implementation of the ‘two-state solution’.

This resolution, introduced by France, received the support of an unprecedented 142 countries. While all the Gulf countries voted in favor of it, countries like Israel, the US, Argentina, Hungary, Norway, Papua New Guinea, and Tonga voted against it. Meanwhile, the 193-member General Assembly condemned the Hamas attack on Israel on 7th October last year. (Maxim News)
