The Single Bench recently issued a verdict cancelling the Group-1 final mark list and general rankings. It ordered that the Mains answer sheets be re-valued within 8 months, or else the exam be cancelled and conducted again. TGPSC appealed the Single bench verdict in the Division Bench. A hearing was held in the High Court on this today.

During the hearing of the petition, AG Sudarshan Reddy argued on behalf of the state government. “The single bench has cancelled the final mark list and general ranking list. It has ordered re-evaluation of the mains papers. It has made it clear that the main exams should be conducted again if not done within 8 months. Group-1 was conducted in 2011.

After that, the Supreme Court cancelled it if it was conducted in 2022. Group-1 recruitments are being done after 14 years. At this time, the single bench has cancelled the process. There is no evidence that there was any bias against those who wrote the main answers in Telugu,” the told the court.

Responding to this, CJ Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh asked the AG whether there were any incidents like malpractice and paper leaks? Is there any evidence of bias? He said that he could not show any evidence. He said that candidates who wrote in Telugu were selected less in the group examinations conducted in AP. He brought to the court’s attention that there were no washrooms for men in Kothi Women’s University. That is why only women were allotted in those two centers. Keeping the disabled in mind, they were allotted nearby centers.

The AG said that it was also wrong to issue separate tickets for prelims and mains. The CJ said that TGPSC has the authority to issue hall tickets. The allocation of examination centers cannot be wrong. Later, the division bench issued orders, saying the single bench’s verdict. CJ Justice AK singh clarified that the appointments will be subject to the final verdict. The stay of the division bench has brought relief to the Group-1 rankers. (Maxim News)
