Hyderabad, Oct 16 (Maxim News): The employees of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) launched a strong protest in front of the Telangana Secretariat on Thursday.
Demanding swift resolution of their long-pending issues. Under the banner of the IKP VOAs Joint Action Committee, SERP employees took to the streets seeking justice for Village Organization Assistants (VOAs) across the state.
They demanded the state government to regularize the VOA positions and immediately implement the long-promised Human Resources policy.
Protesters said that the government had earlier assured them job protection and a monthly salary of ₹20,000 but failed to fulfill that commitment.
“We demand the government to act on its word and secure our livelihoods,” said the leaders of the protest.

The committee also pressed for extending insurance coverage and social security benefits to all VOAs.
They further sought priority for VOA workers in recruitment to Community Coordinator (CC) posts, which they said would ensure career growth and recognition of their contribution at the grassroots level.
In addition, the protesters insisted on the immediate cancellation of Government Order (G.O.) No. 58, which they claimed was detrimental to their service conditions.
Given the ongoing digitalization drive, they urged the authorities to provide essential tools such as laptops, computers, and reimbursement for internet bills to perform their duties more effectively.
The statewide agitation, organized under the leadership of the JAC, saw participation from SERP workers across Telangana.
The demonstrators emphasized that their demands were not new but long delayed, and they would continue their protests until the government responded positively. (Maxim News)
