Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News) : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) organized a “Chalo Raj Bhavan” program to protest the Centre’s decision to block the proposed 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs).
CPM leaders marched to the Raj Bhavan, demanding that the Modi government introduce and pass the 42 percent BC reservation bill in Parliament.
They also urged the inclusion of BC reservations in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution to ensure legal protection.
However, Governor Jishnu Dev Verma declined to grant the CPM delegation an appointment.
In response, the leaders staged a sit-in in front of the Raj Bhavan’s main gate, raising slogans and declaring that they would continue their protest until the Governor met them.
The CPM has announced a statewide demonstration tomorrow to protest against the Governor’s refusal to meet the delegation.
Party State Secretary John Wesley, along with other senior leaders and activists, participated in the protest. (Maxim News)
