BJP Fails to Stop Azharuddin; To Join Revanth Reddy in Jubilee Hills Campaign
BJP Fails to Stop Azharuddin | Hyderabad, Oct. 31 (Maxim News): After fulfilling the longstanding demand for the representation of a minority leader in the Cabinet by inducting Mohammed Azharuddin, the Congress plans to consolidate Muslim votes in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency ahead of the November 11 bypoll.
The Telangana BJP has failed to stop Azharuddin’s appointment as minister, despite its criticism of the move.
Azharuddin is expected to accompany Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during his campaign for the bypoll, especially in divisions with a strong presence of Muslim community voters.

According to party sources, the decision to induct Azharuddin into the Cabinet not only caught the Opposition off guard but also surprised many within the Congress. “He carries the crucial responsibility of securing maximum votes for the party through a united effort.
Azharuddin should act as a seasoned politician rather than a celebrity,” a senior Congress leader said.
During the 2023 Assembly elections, Azharuddin contested from the Jubilee Hills constituency and secured 64,212 votes, amounting to a 35% vote share.
The seat was won by Maganti Gopinath of the BRS, who polled 80,549 votes (44%). BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy received 25,866 votes (14%), while the MIM-backed independent candidate Rashed Farazuddin secured 7,848 votes (4.28%).
As the Congress aims to rebuild trust among minorities, leaders such as TG Minority Residential Institutions Society president Md Faheem Qureshi stressed the need for strong representation.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Telangana state chief Muhammad Azharuddin also urged the Chief Minister to introduce a separate minority sub-plan to ensure inclusive development. (Maxim News)
