Paper Leak Cases Under Supreme Court Review
Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay filed the public interest litigation. He later withdrew his request for time bound investigations and trials.
The petitioner said the Public Examinations Prevention of Unfair Means Amendment Bill, 2026, has strengthened anti paper leak provisions.
The plea also seeks assessment of the properties held by offenders and their family members.
It proposes action under laws dealing with corruption, money laundering, benami properties and undisclosed assets.
The petitioner has also sought consecutive sentences for paper leak offences instead of concurrent sentences.
The plea said repeated examination leaks violate students’ fundamental rights under Articles 14, 16, 19 and 21.
It also highlighted financial burdens, educational losses and mental trauma faced by affected students and families.
The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for September 25.
