“Safe With Dogs” Campaign Launched By Hyderabad Collector
- Initiative aims to promote safe human-dog interaction in Hyderabad
- Public invited to join the movement during HyCan 2025 Dog Show
Hyderabad, November 5, 2025: Hyderabad Collector Ms. Harichandana Dasari launched the “Safe With Dogs” campaign under the aegis of the Department of Medical Health, Government of Telangana. The campaign, jointly organised with the Hyderabad Canine Club (HCC), focuses on creating safer, kinder, and more compassionate communities through responsible pet ownership and public awareness. The initiative seeks to make Hyderabad a model city for peaceful coexistence between people and dogs, said Mr. Philip Butt, Honorary Secretary of HCC, in a press note.
“Safe With Dogs” is designed to educate residents on interacting safely and confidently with dogs in public spaces. It aims to reduce fear, prevent conflicts, and foster empathy toward animals. The campaign will also promote responsible pet parenting through awareness drives and community partnerships. As part of the programme, HCC introduced the “Safe With Dogs Partner Program” to recognise businesses that promote safe and humane practices.
Under this programme, certified establishments such as pet shops, grooming salons, veterinary clinics, cafés, and boarding centres will receive recognition as “Safe With Dogs Partners.” These establishments will be endorsed by the Telangana government and will display an official sticker representing their commitment to public safety and animal welfare. They will also be featured in the Hyderabad Safe With Dogs Directory, a resource highlighting responsible pet-friendly businesses across the city.
The first batch of partner establishments will complete training and onboarding during the HyCan Dog Show scheduled for November 8 and 9, 2025, at OM Convention, Narsingi. Orientation sessions will be organised for participants at HyCan, encouraging local businesses and pet enthusiasts to register and take part in this initiative.
“Safe With Dogs is not just about pets — it’s about people,” said a Hyderabad Canine Club spokesperson. “By working together, we can make Hyderabad safer and more compassionate for both humans and animals.” The launch event also featured Dr. Venkat, District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO), and the Hyderabad Canine Club’s managing committee, including its president and secretary, Mr. Philip Butt.
