BRS Slams Congress For Intimidation In Jubilee Hills By-Election
- Sohail accuses Congress of harassment and misuse of power
- Voters urged to support BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha
Hyderabad, November 8: Senior BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail accused the Congress government in Telangana of using police forces and administrative machinery to harass BRS workers and intimidate voters ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election scheduled for November 11. He appealed to voters to exercise their franchise freely and support BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha, widow of former MLA Maganti Gopinath, whose death led to the bypoll.
Sohail alleged that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had failed in governance, morality, and respect for democratic principles. “Instead of focusing on public welfare, the Chief Minister is supervising a campaign of fear and coercion. Our workers are being detained without reason, homes are being raided, and supporters are being threatened simply for standing with BRS,” he said.
He further accused the Congress of indulging in large-scale voter bribery. “Bundles of cash are being distributed across colonies in Jubilee Hills to buy votes. Fake videos and misinformation campaigns are being circulated to malign BRS. This is not a fair election—it is an attempt to silence democracy,” Sohail stated.
Despite these alleged tactics, he said the BRS campaign led by Working President K. Tarakarama Rao (KTR) had received strong public support. “In just one month, BRS leaders have met every voter in Jubilee Hills at least three times. From door-to-door visits to public meetings, our campaign has been about connection and credibility—not cash,” he said.
Sohail reminded voters of late MLA Maganti Gopinath’s contributions to the constituency. “His service-oriented leadership won the trust of all communities. Today, Maganti Sunitha is continuing that legacy of service, and the people are ready to bless her with victory,” he remarked.
Condemning what he called Congress’s fearmongering, Sohail said, “The people of Jubilee Hills are educated, aware, and fearless. They cannot be threatened or bought. I appeal to every voter to step out on November 11 and vote for BRS without fear. Let your vote be your answer to arrogance, deceit, and intimidation.”
He also criticised the Congress for practicing what it once condemned. “This is the same party that criticised bulldozer politics in other states but now uses similar methods of harassment in Telangana. From neglecting minorities and delaying welfare schemes to destroying democratic institutions, Congress has shown it is no different from the BJP it claims to oppose,” he said.
Sohail concluded that the BRS stands for peace, progress, and inclusive growth. “Under KCR Garu’s leadership, Telangana was known for stability and harmony. Today, that balance has been replaced by fear. The people of Jubilee Hills will reject this politics of intimidation. Every vote for Maganti Sunitha is a vote for self-respect, democracy, and Telangana’s proud identity,” he said.
