SRH have responded to their underwhelming title defence by making bold choices. The management released eight players, including seasoned pacer Mohammed Shami, who was traded to Lucknow Super Giants. Other notable releases are Australia’s Adam Zampa and Indian spinner Rahul Chahar, along with all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and batter Abhinav Manohar. Domestic names Atharva Taide, Sachin Baby, and Simarjeet Singh also exit the squad, signalling a move to trim the roster and prepare for new talent at auction.

Despite these changes, Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained a strong group of key performers. Pat Cummins, who captained last season, continues to lead the team. The explosive top order of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma remains untouched, while keeper-batsmen Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen stay at the heart of the batting lineup. The franchise has also shown confidence in emerging players such as Aniket Verma, R. Smaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harsh Dubey.

In bowling, SRH opted for continuity by retaining Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga and left-arm specialist Jaydev Unadkat. England’s Brydon Carse and young leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari complete their revamped attack, ensuring the side enters the 2026 season with proven strengths and new ambitions.

With a refreshed mix of experience and youth, Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to rebuild confidence and aim for playoff contention in the upcoming IPL season.
