First Phase Nominations End Across Telangana

Hyderabad: The first phase of nominations for the Telangana elections concluded on Saturday. Officials said the process ended after a full day of activity across the state. The receipt of nominations for 4,236 panchayats and 37,400 wards in 189 mandals continued until late in the night. The cutoff time for filing papers was 5 pm. However, as many people arrived before the deadline, staff processed all papers submitted on time.

The large turnout created a busy atmosphere in several districts. Many candidates reached the offices well before the deadline. Therefore, officials continued the scrutiny and receipt process into the night. According to the information provided, more than 20,000 nominations were filed on Saturday for sarpanch posts. Meanwhile, over 50,000 nominations were filed for ward member posts across the first phase regions.

The Election Department will release the official details of first phase nominations today. It will also announce the number of technically valid papers. Appeals related to rejections or objections will be accepted on December 1. Officials will resolve these appeals on December 2. Then, candidates will have the final chance to withdraw their nominations on December 3.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission will begin accepting nominations for the second phase from November 30. The second phase covers 4,333 gram panchayats and 38,350 wards in 193 mandals. Later, the third phase of nominations will start on December 3. The three phases of polling will take place on December 11, 14 and 17. Votes will be counted and results will be declared on the same day in each phase.

The end of the first phase marks a significant step in the multi-stage election process. The heavy response shows strong interest among candidates across rural Telangana. Officials said they will complete the remaining steps on schedule to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
