Assembly sessions likely by month end as CM reviews plans
Assembly sessions | Hyderabad, Dec. 16: The Telangana government may hold Assembly sessions by the end of this month, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy actively exploring the option, according to information available.
The move is being considered as the Congress government completes two years in power.
The Chief Minister is reportedly consulting ministers on whether the Assembly platform can be used to explain the government’s achievements directly to the people.
Sources indicate that the Chief Minister is thinking of convening the Assembly for two or three days towards the month end.
The objective, as discussed, is to present the progress and successes achieved during the two year period since the Congress came to power.
Ministers are being sounded out on the feasibility and timing of such sessions, while internal discussions continue within the government.
After the Congress assumed power, the first Assembly session was organised on December 9, 2023, mainly for administering oath to newly elected legislators.
Subsequently, in 2024, Assembly sessions were also held on December 9. This year too, the government initially considered holding Assembly sessions on the same date.

However, the Rising Global Summit became a hurdle, making it difficult to proceed with the plan on that day. Therefore, the focus has now shifted to holding Assembly sessions by the end of the current month.
Meanwhile, officials across departments are preparing detailed information on the government’s achievements over the last two years.
The data is being compiled department wise, with officers actively engaged in the process.
The focus areas include finance, agriculture, irrigation, power, education, municipal administration, industries, and welfare departments.

This information is expected to form the core content if Assembly sessions are convened.
In addition, with the election code ending on the 18th of this month, there is a strong possibility that a cabinet meeting will be held within two or three days thereafter.
During this cabinet meeting, approvals may be given to several pending issues.
The government may also discuss important matters such as Sarpanch election results, MPTC and ZPTC elections, and dates for depositing Rythu Bharosa funds into farmers’ bank accounts.
Therefore, the possible Assembly sessions are being viewed as part of a broader administrative and political exercise.
The Chief Minister’s consultations suggest that clarity on the dates and duration may emerge soon, depending on the outcome of discussions with ministers and the completion of preparatory work by officials.
