Two Arrested for Illegal Sale of Banned Chinese Manja in Khairatabad

Hyderabad, January 2, 2026 (Maxim News): In a crackdown on the illegal sale of banned kite-flying material, the Central Zone DCP team on Thursday apprehended two persons for allegedly selling Chinese Manja, a prohibited nylon string, from a shop in Khairathabad.

According to police, the surprise inspection was carried out at a shop styled as “Santosh Home Needs”, located at the vegetable market opposite the railway gate in Khairathabad, falling under the limits of Khairathabad Police Station. During the check, officers found that the respondents were illegally selling banned Chinese Manja, despite a strict prohibition on its sale and use due to serious public safety concerns.

Police officials stated that Chinese Manja poses a grave threat to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders, birds and animals, and has been responsible for several serious injuries and fatalities in the past. The continued sale of the banned material was described as highly irresponsible and dangerous, endangering human life and public safety.

The arrested accused were identified as:

  1. Pyarasani Vamshi Vardhan, son of P. Ram Mohan, aged 22 years, occupation: delivery boy (Blinkit), resident of Maruthi Nagar, Khairathabad.
  2. Pyarasani Harsha Vardhan, son of P. Ram Mohan, aged 25 years, occupation: business, resident of Maruthi Nagar, Khairathabad.

During the operation, police seized a large quantity of prohibited material and other items, including:

  • Chinese Manja bobbins – 9
  • Geethi Manja packets – 65
  • One Vivo Y51 mobile phone
  • One iPhone 16

Following the seizure, both accused along with the confiscated material were handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO), Khairathabad Police Station, for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Police reiterated that strict action will continue against anyone involved in the sale, storage or use of banned Chinese Manja, and warned shopkeepers and the public to strictly comply with the ban in the interest of public safety.
