Telangana Inter Board | Hyderabad, Jan 5: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) launched a crackdown on private junior colleges.

It targets arbitrary practices in admissions and fees. Officials conducted surprise inspections across the state. They found violations of government norms.

The board issued show-cause notices to over 200 colleges. These institutions charged excess fees. Some manipulated student admissions. The TSBIE aims to enforce uniform guidelines. It follows complaints from parents and students.

Inspectors seized unauthorized fee receipts. Colleges admitted students beyond sanctioned strength. Many ignored the prescribed fee structure. The board recovered over Rs 5 crore in excess collections already. Further audits continue.

This action stems from long-standing issues. Private junior colleges often hike fees arbitrarily. They cite infrastructure costs. However, the government caps fees at Rs 10,000 for general courses. Vocational courses allow up to Rs 15,000. TSBIE Director Govind Reddy confirmed the drive. He urged colleges to comply strictly.

The board plans stricter monitoring. It will blacklist repeat offenders. Students benefit from regulated admissions now.

Parents welcome the intervention. It ensures fair access to education. The crackdown aligns with state education policies. It promotes transparency in intermediate education.

The board clarified that there are currently 3,374 junior colleges with permits in the state and that no unrecognized colleges are running. It warned that strict action will be taken against those who violate
the rules.
