Assembly Boycott By BRS Draws Bhatti Vikramarka Criticism

Hyderabad, Jan. 5 (Maxim News) : Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said the main opposition BRS must explain its decision to stay away from the Telangana Assembly winter session. He accused the party of avoiding debate on public issues and failing in its role as a responsible opposition.

Speaking to media persons during an informal interaction in the Assembly, Bhatti Vikramarka said the absence of BRS members from the House amounted to suppressing the voice of the people. He questioned why the party chose not to attend proceedings on most days instead of raising issues inside the House.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the BRS had earlier insisted in the Business Advisory Committee meeting that the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation project should be discussed. However, he alleged that when the government agreed to hold a discussion, BRS leaders failed to respond and stayed away.

He said a walkout could have had meaning if the party faced discomfort on a specific day. However, he added that remaining absent throughout the session raised serious questions about its intent.

Bhatti Vikramarka further alleged that the BRS was deliberately avoiding discussion on people’s issues. He said staying away from the Assembly instead of participating in debates reflected an attempt to silence public concerns.

Responding to questions on MLC Kavitha’s emotional remarks in the Legislative Council, Bhatti Vikramarka said every word spoken by her was officially recorded.

Bhatti stated that the government was closely observing developments in the House and that discussions were being conducted strictly as per rules and procedures.
