KTR Khammam visit | Hyderabad, Jan 7 (Maxim News): The opposition BRS suffered another setback on the day party working president KTR visited Khammam district.
On the same day, three more BRS corporators prepared to join the Congress, triggering fresh political discussion across the state.
The development gained attention as it followed a recent exit of five women corporators from the BRS. Those corporators had resigned earlier and joined the Congress in the presence of Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.
Now, the decision of three more corporators to switch parties, coinciding with KTR’s Khammam tour, has become a major talking point.
Corporators joining Congress during KTR Khammam tour
KTR arrived in Khammam to participate in a programme to honour sarpanches and vice sarpanches who won the recent gram panchayat elections with BRS support.
Former minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar made special arrangements for the visit. The programme was planned as a show of strength for the party in the district.
Several BRS leaders were scheduled to attend the event. These included BRS MPs, former MLAs, MLCs, former MLCs, and senior party leaders from Khammam district.
Party workers were also expected to participate in large numbers to welcome KTR and highlight the party’s organisational presence.
Meanwhile, leaders from the neighbouring Bhadradri Kothagudem district were also set to join the programme.

Former MLAs, district leaders, and key party workers from that region planned to attend, reflecting the scale of the event.
However, the news of three corporators preparing to join the Congress on the same day overshadowed the BRS programme.
Therefore, the timing of the political shift added to the embarrassment for the opposition party leadership.
The back to back resignations of corporators have raised questions about the party’s hold in urban local bodies.
Meanwhile, the Congress appears to be gaining ground by attracting elected representatives from the BRS. The political impact of these developments is expected to resonate beyond Khammam district in the coming days.
