Hyderabad: BRS cadres were detained across Komaram Bheem Asifabad district ahead of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s district tour scheduled for Thursday. The detentions took place as part of police arrangements made in view of the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit. Therefore, police shifted the detained cadres to local police stations to prevent any disruption during the tour.

According to the information available, police detained BRS cadres from Jainoor, Sirpur (U), and several other parts of the district. The cadres were taken into custody and moved to nearby police stations. Meanwhile, the detained workers raised slogans against Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka. They alleged that the government was suppressing the voice of Opposition parties by using the police department. However, officials focused on maintaining order during the high level visit.

Weekly bazaar shut amid BRS cadres detained episode

The developments surrounding the BRS cadres detained issue also affected normal life in Jainoor mandal centre. A weekly bazaar and several commercial establishments were closed for two hours during the Deputy Chief Minister’s tour. As a result, tribals who had gathered to purchase essential items faced inconvenience. Therefore, the temporary closure triggered criticism from the local tribal population.

The tribals criticised officials for shutting down the market and shops during the Deputy Chief Minister’s programme. Meanwhile, frustration grew among those who had travelled to the mandal centre for their weekly purchases. The situation added to the tension created by the detention of BRS cadres. However, officials did not announce any relaxation during the visit period.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s tour included multiple programmes across the district. He was scheduled to attend events at Jangaon and Busimetta villages in Jainoor mandal. He was also set to visit Modi village in Kerameri mandal. Later, he was to participate in a review meeting with district authorities at the Integrated District Officers Complex in Asifabad. Therefore, police and district officials remained on alert throughout the day.

Praja Darbar at Nagoba Jatara part of tour

After completing the review meeting, Vikramarka was scheduled to participate in a Praja Darbar or grievance redressal programme. This programme was planned at the ongoing Nagoba Jatara in Keslapur village of Indervelli mandal. Meanwhile, security arrangements continued across all locations linked to the tour.

The detention of BRS cadres, along with the temporary closure of markets, has drawn attention across the district. While police cited precautionary measures, the Opposition raised concerns over the actions. Therefore, the episode has highlighted tensions during political tours in the district.
