Hung in Adilabad Municipality: BJP Four Short

Hyderabad: Hung in Adilabad Municipality as the BJP fell four seats short of the majority mark in the latest municipal results. The BJP won 21 wards in the 49 ward municipality. Meanwhile, Congress secured 11 wards, BRS won 6, MIM also won 6, and independents claimed 5 wards.

There are a total of 49 wards in Adilabad Municipality. Polling was held in all 49 wards. The overall polling percentage recorded was 69.04. However, despite emerging as the single largest party, the BJP remained four seats short of the majority mark, leading to a hung in Adilabad Municipality.

Out of the total votes cast, 70.55 percent of men exercised their right to vote. Meanwhile, 67.62 percent of women cast their votes. The percentage of women voting decreased significantly. Out of a total of 73,836 women voters, only 49,926 voted.

At the same time, polling was held on Wednesday in Mancherial Corporation and ten municipalities in the joint Adilabad district. In Mancherial district, officials set up 444 polling stations. These stations covered 149 wards in Mancherial Corporation and Bellampalli, Kaanapali, Chennur and Lakshettipet municipalities.

Therefore, the results in Adilabad Municipality have gained attention due to the hung verdict. The BJP leads with 21 wards, but it does not have a clear majority. Congress, BRS, MIM and independents together hold the remaining seats. As a result, political developments are likely in the municipality.

Meanwhile, the voting figures highlight a gap between male and female turnout. Although men recorded over 70 percent turnout, women participation remained lower. This trend has drawn focus as the municipality moves into the next phase following the hung outcome.
