Tension After Chairperson Election Postponed

Meanwhile, former councillor Domakonda Anil was already arrested in connection with an unlawful assembly and rioting case. Police also booked Balka Suman and six other leaders at Kyathanpalli in Chennur on Wednesday.

Earlier, amid a ruckus created by Congress councillors, officials once again postponed the election of chairperson and vice chairperson of Kyathanpalli municipality. The postponement came despite sufficient quorum at the special meeting held on Tuesday.

Congress activists pelted stones at BRS leaders, which led to tension. The election was earlier postponed on Monday due to lack of quorum. Therefore, the repeated delays have intensified political friction in the area.

Authorities maintained a strong police presence to prevent further unrest. However, the bandh remained peaceful, according to reports reaching Hyderabad.
