Hyderabad: India France agreements were signed during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India. After discussions between Macron and Prime Minister Modi, both sides signed agreements on several issues. The development is expected to expand educational opportunities and strengthen cooperation across sectors.
India France agreements aim to raise student count to 30000
According to the agreement, opportunities for Indian students to study in France will improve. It has been decided to increase the number of Indian students in France to 30,000 by 2030. At present, 10,000 Indian students are studying there. Therefore, another 20,000 students are expected to be added in the next four years.
Through this move, Indian students will get easier access to higher studies in French universities. Meanwhile, France will set up an academic hub in Mumbai for Indian students. Also, discussions are underway regarding mutual recognition of degrees between the two countries. This step may further simplify academic mobility.
India France agreements include free visa pilot project
In addition, France will provide free visas to Indians. Indians traveling to other countries through France will also be allowed to travel to France without a visa. However, this will be introduced as a pilot project for the first six months. Later, authorities will decide on full implementation.
Key agreements were reached on 21 issues. These include science and technology, AI, healthcare, development, culture, defense, education, trading, digital payments, international diplomatic services, and natural resources. The wide scope of cooperation shows the depth of bilateral ties.
An agreement was also signed for the purchase of 114 Rafale fighter jets. India will buy these Rafale fighter jets from France for Rs 3.25 lakh. India already has 36 Rafale aircraft. This deal is described as the biggest in the history of Indian defense.
Overall, the India France agreements mark a significant step in strengthening ties between the two countries. The focus on education, visas, defense, and technology reflects a broad partnership aimed at long term cooperation.
