The investigation revealed that these officials had demanded huge bribes from consumers, especially for granting new electricity connections, setting up panel boards, and allocating transformers. They were so audacious in their corruption that there was solid evidence that the bribe money was received directly through digital payment apps like PhonePe. With the evidence of corruption confirmed by these digital transactions, the government, without any hesitation, immediately suspended the responsible officials. With this move, the government seems to have sent a strong warning to other corrupt officials in the electricity department.

Education officers caught by ACB

On the other hand, two education department officials were caught by ACB officials while taking a bribe of Rs. 70 thousand to process a file. A person had applied for a CBSE NAC certificate for his school for the academic year 2026-27. Senior Assistant Gummidala Sridhar, working in the office of the Director of School Education, Saifabad, Hyderabad, demanded Rs. 70 thousand to process the file. He said that he would talk to the superintendent and give him the NTC. With this, the victim approached the ACB. On Thursday, the senior assistant was caught by ACB officials while accepting the demanded Rs. 70 thousand in the presence of Superintendent Sangeena Phaniraj. A case was registered against the two officials and they were produced in court. (Maxim News)
